Three local companies have been selected to build a solar energy farm with 41,000 panels at Indianapolis International Airport, creating one of the largest airport solar farms in the country and the largest in the state.
The developers will lease 60 acres at the I-70 interchange at the airport's entry to build the solar array. It is expected to be operating by mid-2012.

The Indianapolis Airport Authority announced Tuesday that ET Energy Solutions was selected from among eight bidders. The project is estimated to cost up to $45 million.
ET Energy Solutions is a newly formed venture for this project. It is made up of three partners: renewable energy contractor Johnson-Melloh Solutions, architect and engineers Schmidt Associates, and computer and electronic firm Telamon Corp.
The project will create 85 construction jobs and 18 long-term jobs.
