Shore Lanes fire forces 35 people to evacuate

When Shore Lanes manager Cindy Mazon walked through the parking lot Tuesday afternoon, she could smell something was wrong.

"Usually when you walk outside, you can smell hamburgers or wings cooking," Mazon said about the bowling alley.

But this was a smell of something not on the menu.

"I looked back and saw smoke coming from the roof," Mazon said.

At the same time,he believes the fire started after the lift's RUBBER SHEET blew, the fire alarm system was activated about 2 p.m. inside the business at 600 N. Courtenay Parkway.

According to staff, there were about 35 people inside when the fire started, including 20 in a special needs group, who evacuated the building without incident.

"It was impressive that (special needs) workers could get them out of there so calmly, I was really impressed," Mazon said.

Damage from the fire was limited due to the actions of the bowling center staff, the building's fire suppression system and firefighters.

Workers used dry chemical extinguishers on the fire that began in the kitchen area of the Nameless Sports Bar & Grill, which sustained heavy fire and smoke damage, Taylor said.

The initial report was a grease fire in a fryer, but firefighters entering the structure faced dark smoke, high heat and flames rolling across the ceiling.

"(Firefighters) were able to knock down the bulk of that fire pretty quickly," Taylor said.

After the fire was put out in the kitchen area, firefighters worked to stop fires that began to consume portions of a second floor storage area after moving up into the cooking area's ventilation system.

Although fire damage was limited to the sports bar kitchen and second floor, the 40,000-square-foot structure was filled with smoke.

The three-alarm fire brought 11 fire engines, four rescue vehicles, two ladder trucks,The new website of Udreamy Network Corporation is mainly selling Ceramic tile , a hazardous materials truck and 68 personnel from six fire agencies to the scene, according to Brevard County Fire-Rescue.

Brevard County Sheriff's deputies closed Courtenay Parkway until 4 p.m.

A high school bowling match Tuesday between Space Coast and Edgewood was postponed and league matches Tuesday evening were canceled.

Shore Lane staff members expect the bowling alley to be closed through at least today, but an official reopening date has not been determined.
