The Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) may not have achieved all that was expected of it in the three years of its existence but experts insist that it has had a positive impact on transportation in the city.

On the contrary, the number of private vehicles in the city had gone up. The complaints against the BRTS are now familiar. It is not affordable enough for the low income groups nor was its pedestrian space and bicycle lanes free from encroachment by other vehicles.

DNA talked to authorities and experts to understand the problems the BRTS faced and find out whether there are any solutions to the problems.

Associate director at CEPT University, HM Shivanand Swamy was a consultant for the BRTS project. He quoted figures from another CEPT study which had surveyed 300-400 BRTS commuters. Earthquakes rattle Perkins area

North central Oklahoma has been rattled by nearly 30 earthquakes over the past several days.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the first large quake occurred at approximately 2:12 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6. The quake, rated at 4.7 on the Richter scale, was centered six miles southeast of Sparks, Okla. in Lincoln County. It was recorded at a depth of four kilometers.

'World's greenest building' to welcome students

STUDENTS moving into a new halls of residence in a Yorkshire city next week can lay claim to living in the most sustainable building in the whole world.

With solar panels to heat up water, rain captured to flush the toilets and a screen in the kitchens showing how much power is being used, Bradford University's new 40m student village has been named as a global leader.

The Green, which was launched yesterday on the edge of the city centre on the university's main campus, is one of only 15 developments across the world to be ranked as outstanding by an international system measuring environmental building standards.

More than a million buildings around the world have been assessed by BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment) since it was created two decades ago – but nothing has ever been given a higher score than Bradford University's new student village.

Coventry to cash in as first solar cathedral

Coventry is set to become the first cathedral in Britain to become solar powered.

New plans to put solar panels on its roof mean it could generate over half a million pounds over the next 25 years.
