Choices Homecentre - New name, same experienced team

AFTER more than 35 years as Bendigo Bulk Carpets, this locally owned flooring business has changed its name to Choices Homecentre Bendigo. Choices Bendigo owner Scott Mitchell says it was a tough decision and not taken lightly as we had a very recognisable name in Bendigo Bulk Carpets but with an industry flooded with similar sounding business names and that the name change would rectify some of that confusion. “It’s important for our customers to know that we are not only a carpet retailer. We have Beaumont Tiles and Choices Window Furnishings and interior design under our roof, all services offered with our new name Choices Homecentre,” Scott says.

“Customers will find the same experienced staff and some new vibrant staff in store, providing exceptional customer service and great products at the right price.”

Scott said the switch to Choices better reflected the business today. He said the days of only selling carpets were long gone. “Now people will find timbers, laminate and vinyl, window furnishings and tiles, alongside carpets and rugs, and the Homecentre concept enables us to add value to our business with other product lines such as wallpaper ” he says.

Choices stocks products for the budget conscious home owner and the very latest, next generation, high end products also. As part of a national buying group they have access to the industry’s top brands and this means Choices Homecentre can offer customers great prices on quality products. This page contains information about molds,Overview description of rapid Tooling processes.

“Our staff are experienced and knowledgeable in all facets of our industry. This ensures our customers get the right advice, help and choices to find the product they’ve been searching for - surface choices, contemporary colours, patterns and textures – are all in store,” Scott adds.

BENDIGO Bulk Carpet Choice and Bendigo Curtain Choice have changed their names and along with Beaumont Tiles they make up the Choices Homecentre Bendigo. But the history and stories of the families and people involved in this stalwart Bendigo business make interesting reading.Welcome to the online guide for do-it-yourself Ceramic tile.

In 1976 Barry Miles created Bendigo Bulk Carpets and operated out of a small shop in Reservoir Road. As the business grew, it moved on Easter Tuesday 1980, to its present location in Williamson Street.

Cut Price Curtains was introduced into the business in 1984 to provide quality window coverings at budget prices.

In 1986 Alan Bowles purchased the business and took control as the general manager. Under Alan’s guidance the business grew to a point where (with other independent carpet retailers) it had fantastic buying power but lacked a marketing arm.

In 1992 Alan and 16 other retailers banded together to form Carpet Choice which now has over 130 members and is still growing. It was also at this point that Cut Price Curtains became Bendigo Curtain Choice.

It was Alan’s tenacious approach to business that led it into the commercial area of floor coverings and by 2005 it was regarded as the market leader for commercial floor coverings in central Victoria.

In January 2006 Beaumont Tiles was relaunched in Bendigo and it provided the ability to service all aspects of flooring in any home.

On July 1, 2006, Scott Mitchell was brought in as a partner and general manager who had several years of training under Alan before his retirement. Not surprisingly Alan’s experience is still valuable as a consultant, mentor and confidant to Scott.
